What To Read

Nothing remotely interesting has happened to me lately. I've been sick and mostly staying indoors and reading. Whenever I go to the library or the bookstore, I spend hours trying to find the next book that I will love, that will resonate with me, that I can lose myself in. And when I find that book, halfway into it, I start panicking... what if I never find another book quite as good, another story that will take me away??

On that note, everyone should read The Ballad of Lee Cotton
It's what I'm lost in at the moment.

And please tell me what you're reading. I don't have that many pages to go and the fear is setting in.

PS: Past loves... Three Dog Night Peter Goldsworthy The Ninth Life of Louis Drax Liz Jensen The Icarus Girl Helen Oyeyemi The Secret Life of Bees Sue Monk Kidd Middlesex Jeffrey Eugenides Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Johnathan Safran Foer Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit Jeannete Winterson

I love getting recommended reading lists, because I always run out of books!

My current loves:
- Anything by Margaret Atwood
- "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini
- "A recipe for bees" by Gail Anderson Argatz
- "Running with Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs

I'm also reading a book of 'short short stories' (that are around a page long) - I should lend it to you, it's really good.

ps - look at my blog! I just did a 'snakes on a plane' update!! The html took me friggin' ages. I need more practise.

Well let's see at the moment I'm reading 'Never Let Me Go' which is of no help to you whatsoever since you've already read it, however, here are some ones you might like:

- Neuromancer by William Gibson
- Pattern Recognition by William Gibson (hell anything by William Gibson)
- Post Office by Charles Bukowski
- Of Human Bondage by Sommerset Maugham
- Arrowsmith by Sinclair Lewis

Those last two I like because they're about doctors, your results may vary.

P.S. Beck, I saw your post and let me just say... "I've had it with these snakes" 'chk' 'chk'
